Why was the 2019 general election so important?

2019 election counting time

The general election is a part of the constitutional process and takes place every five years to elect the new government of the country. In 2019, though, a lot more was at stake, in light of the following:
2019 election phases

  • The Narendra Modi wave in India against the UPA which had ruled the nation for 70 years was growing stronger due to the scams and allegations of corruption against the UPA government.
  • Rise of Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate from BJP due to the featuring of his successful 17th Lok Sabha. There was rapid increase in the 'Modi Wave' which attracted the people from every part of the country.
  • India was looking for a change from the current government, seeking an awakened India. The nation wanted a complete reversal of the Indian Governance.
  • The 2011 India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare stimulated a new move of the common man into politics.
  • Emergence of the AAP as a promising party initiated a new drive in the nation, by bringing citizens to fight against corruption by changing the system itself.
  • Resignation of the Leaders of Indian National Congress (INC) from her post after a shameful defeat in the election 2019.
  • The BJP had won the Vidhan Sabha elections in Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Punjab.
  • The Congress is facing a leadership crisis, with Rahul Gandhi, arguably the strongest contender for the position of PM candidate, not viewed as a good choice by political leaders and analysts alike.

There is a three-pronged in contest in Andhra Pradesh between N Chandrababu led-TDP, YSR Congress Party of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and movie star Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena. Naidu's TDP is likely to win between 4 to 6 seats, according to the India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll. The national parties, the Congress and the BJP, are just minor players in the State.

Results of election 2019 date and time

The last general polls were held in 2014 in undivided Andhra Pradesh. Following the bifurcation of the State, 42 Lok Sabha seats were divided among Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with the former getting 25 seats and the latter 17, respectively.

Which party is going to win in 2019?

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on course towin the general election, exit polls suggest. The BJP and the main opposition Congress party battled it out with powerful regional rivals in a bruising campaign over seven phases of polling. Results will be announced on 23 May.

Who has more chances of winning 2019 Lok Sabha elections?

In approximately 4 months, Indian voters from Kanyakumari to Kashmir will go to the polls to select their next parliament. The country’s 2019 general election, like previous contests, will be the largest democratic exercise in world history. More than 850 million voters will be eligible to decide which political party or alliance will form the government and, ultimately, who will serve as the Prime Minister.
Till 2017, opinion polls reveal that Modi remained highly popular after 3 years in office, and the BJP managed to methodically expand its national footprint in numerous state elections since 2014. The opposition, comprised of the once-dominant Indian National Congress and a plethora of regional parties, struggled to counter the BJP onslaught.
But with three major states- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, so called Hindi heartland slipping out of its hands in the Five State Elections 2018, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is worried. "What if this defeat repeats in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections too?" is a question that is haunting many in the BJP. For a party that stormed to power after 16 years of political exile, the stunning 2017 Assembly victory is beginning to look like history.
Arguments in favour of Congress winning 2019 Lok Sabha Elections -:
  • The BJP has suffered a massive setback as the party was routed in Chhattisgarh where it was in power for last 15 years. In Rajasthan also, the party lost to Congress. The saffron party was also defeated in Madhya Pradesh by Congress after ruling the state for three consecutive terms.
  • The five states- Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram, account for 65 Lok Sabha seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 59 out of these 65 seats. The BJP won majority of seats from MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh which is highly improbable for 2019.
  • PM Narendra Modi's chances of getting re-elected in the 2019 elections have slipped from “99 per cent” in 2017 to “50 per cent after the State Assemble Elections”, says economic analyst Ruchir Sharma, noting that a fragmented opposition is showing signs of coming together.
  • The wins have made Congress president a lead player. It provides the Congress the belief that BJP can be defeated and Rahul Gandhi can lead the charge against PM Narendra Modi and present the voters an alternative to him.
  • Losses in both rural and urban parts indicate a serious flaw in how the BJP has positioned itself politically. Voters in rural areas, farmers, Dalits, tribals, first-time voters and the unemployed have proved their dismay over policies of the ruling government. There are signs that the urban middle class and traders have abandoned their traditional political romance with the BJP.
  • With job creation flagging, BJP's overt reliance on Hindu nationalist flash points has blown up in its face. So-called cow vigilantes in the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, which the BJP rules through a Hindu priest they appointed chief minister, recently formed a mob to protest the death of some cattle and ended up shooting and killing a police officer. It can be in favor of Congress.
  • Stock investors appeared to have baked in the setback quickly on 11th December 2018 itself, and on the next day after the appointment of a new RBI. Other entities also seemed to be losing faith on the ruling government policies after the resignation of major institutions like RBI and CBI.
Arguments in favour of BJP winning 2019 Lok Sabha Elections -:
  • If the opinion polls are anything to go by, the results of Assembly elections will have minimal impact on the outcome of Lok Sabha elections in these three states in 2019. Majority of these opinion polls clearly point out that the electorate is very eloquent in differentiating between Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
  • A voter who is unhappy with performance of the Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan  is not necessarily unhappy with PM Modi. Similarly, those who voted for Congress in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh would not necessarily prefer Rahul Gandhi over Narendra Modi in 2019 polls.
  • The close contests that we’ve just witnessed clearly show the absence of any major wave in favour of either party. What has played out, more likely, is anti-incumbency combined with a certain degree of fatigue for familiar faces
  • Global brokerages did take a serious view of the election outcome but were not ready to give up on Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet, saying his party still has a bright chance of notching up a simple majority in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
  • The Modi factor has the potential to change the political discourse in these three states in 2019, according to many opinion polls. According to some of these polls, the popularity of PM Modi is way ahead of other politicians in these states including the outgoing chief ministers of BJP.
  • Despite the anti-incumbency, the BJP's vote share in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan was almost equal to the Congress, which emerged victorious. Party leaders believe that the National Democratic Alliance is intact and it will retain power at the Centre in 2019 under Modi's leadership.
Conclusion:
Even if this does not mean the end of the BJP’s poll prospects, the party has been given a strong wake-up call. They will have to pull something else out of the bag to win big in 2019. What that would be is anyone’s guess. An emotive construction of the Ram Mandir or, possibly, another surgical strike? Both options seem chancy and dangerous. The ruling party will have to tread very carefully in the run-up to the 2019 elections. This is where the BJP’s “x-factor,” NaMo, can make all the difference. We know that elections are not won only on the basis of actual deliverables on the ground or even on the basis of good governance or development alone. What is needed is a rallying point, a wave to cement the masses into a cohesive political force that backs one party.
The most important takeaway has been that the Congress is very much in the political game, as India’s second largest national party, having staged an impressive comeback. Will Rahul Gandhi, as a leader, be able to take his party from just presenting this neck to neck competition to a certain victory? This is yet to be seen.

Astrological Predictions for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections Results

The largest socio-political exercise in the world’s most populous democracy has just begun. Yes, the Indian Lok Sabha Election 2019 is here. And as always, it’s going to be an acid test for different political parties & leaders who are busy displaying their commitment to social welfare and the well-being of people. For sure, the upcoming General Election is going to be an interesting phenomenon.

All the more so because it is likely to be a fierce contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main opposition party the Indian National Congress (Congress). Will PM Narendra Modi be re-elected and come back to power? Or will a resurgent Congress snatch victory from BJP with the help of other United Progressive Alliance (UPA) parties? The election results will be much awaited not just by the direct stakeholders of the electoral process (political leaders) but also by crores and crores of people across India, all the more by those who have faith in the marvels of democracy and who believe that they have the power to change their destiny (by effectively using their sacred right to vote) and also brighten the prospects of their upcoming generations.

There is wide speculation about the outcome of this election. Psephologists (poll surveyors and analysts) and the poll pundits are busy analysing the likely election results. Well, here Ganesha has analysed the upcoming election astrologically. Read on and know the findings as deciphered from the writings in heaven.

Here are the major planetary transits in the coming days, which are likely to influence the voting pattern:

Major Planetary Events That Can Impact 2019 Election Results:

23rd March 2019 – Rahu Entered Gemini Sign29th March 2019 – Jupiter Entered Sagittarius 10th April 2019 – Jupiter became retrograde in Sagittarius 22nd April 2019 – Jupiter will re-enter Scorpio in retrograde motion 30th April 2019 – Saturn will become retrograde7th May 2019 – Mars will join Rahu in Gemini, besides Saturn and Ketu will be moving extremely close to each other

Astrological Alignment During Election & Result Date

It should be noted that several significant planetary events are taking place in a short span of just one-and-half month, which incidentally covers the time phase of the upcoming General Election 2019. This election is going to be the most important in the history of independent India. The result of this election will have a long-lasting impact on the destiny of India. It can be said that India is at a very crucial juncture of its socio-political journey.

Jupiter’s Position Supports The Ruling Political Party

Jupiter’s transit holds great importance because Jupiter is the Lord of the 8th House (House of Adversities) in India’s Foundation Chart. As Jupiter is neither associated with the 10th House nor its Lord Saturn, the incumbent government (Modi Government) has a good chance to retain power. Strong Ascendant Lord is necessary for a stable government But Venus will be passing through the 12th House on the result date, which is not favourable for the incumbent government.

The X Factor - Saturn-Ketu Conjunction: It May Be A Deciding Factor

Strong Rahu and Saturn support a strong & stable government. Rahu is exalted and hence very powerful. But, Saturn in the 8th House points to weakness. It is detrimental to the interests of the incumbent government. But the retrogression of Saturn can reverse some malefic effects.

Saturn’s Influence In The Past Elections

The most important factor Saturn will be in very close conjunction with Ketu and this may be a very complex planetary situation. It’s going to be an important deciding factor in this election. It may cause a very unpredictable, surprising or shocking election result. It should be pointed out that close conjunction between Saturn and Ketu in Scorpio had delivered a landslide victory for Rajiv Gandhi in the 1984 Lok Sabha Election. On the other hand, Saturn-Ketu conjunction (which was not close conjunction) in Pisces had led to a fractured mandate in the 1996 Lok Sabha Election. As this time it’s going to be close Saturn-Ketu conjunction, so it is likely that the election may lead to a clear majority and not a fractured mandate.

NDA May Even Surpass Its 2014 Tally, Hint The Stars

Though Saturn-Ketu conjunction may point to the possibility of a hung parliament, it is felt that in this case, the close Saturn-Ketu conjunction will help the Modi Government come back to power with a good majority. Thus, the X Factor (retrograde Saturn-Ketu conjunction) can even help NDA surpass its present mandate. NDA has a good chance to retain power as per astrology prediction.

Complex Planetary Alignment On Election 2019 Result Date

Adding to this, the transiting Moon on the result date will be in close conjunction with Saturn and Ketu & Mars will be aspecting it. It’s really difficult to analyse the outcome of this election. But the event chart of the result date indicates an advantage to the ruling NDA alliance. Do you want to know your future in 2019? Read the 2019 Highlights Report.

Disruptive Influence Of Mars

It should be noted that the transit of Mars will be very important in deciding the election result. Mars’ transit through Taurus and that too in Rohini Nakshatra (Constellation) can raise tensions. Saturn-Ketu conjunction will be in opposition with Mars-Rahu conjunction from 7th May 2019. So, the time phase from 7th April 2019 to 22nd June 2019 can be extremely sensitive. In fact, the entire time period till 22nd June 2019 can be very disruptive. Any event which may occur during this phase may have a significant impact on the result of Lok Sabha election 2019.

Conclusion: Who Will Win This Election?

This election will be the most important in the entire history of India. BJP is likely to come out as the single largest party in the election. NDA is likely to come back to power. NDA may even cross its earlier (2014) tally.
