England stormed into the World Cup final with an eight-wicket victory over Australia at Edgbaston on Thursday after yet another century opening partnership from Jason Roy (85) and Jonny Bairstow (34).

England, who won with nearly 18 overs to spare, will meet New Zealand in Sunday's final at Lord's with a first-time World Cup winner guaranteed.

Record five-times champions Australia were bowled out for 223, Steve Smith making 85 against quality English bowling with Chris Woakes taking 3-20.

But England's opening pair shared their fourth consecutive century partnership, reaching 124 before Bairstow was trapped lbw in the 18th over.

Joe Root (49 not out) and Eoin Morgan (45 not out) saw England comfortably to victory and their first appearance in the final since 1992.

Meanwhile, New Zealand reached their second successive World Cup final after dramatically toppling India by 18 runs, Ravindra Jadeja's swashbuckling 77 from 59 balls coming in a losing cause.

Star batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had misfired at Old Trafford, India's top three making just one apiece, as they lurched to 24 for four and then 92 for six chasing 240 on the reserve day of this semi-final.

Jadeja's pyrotechnics gave India a fleeting hope but he departed with 32 required off 13 balls before Mahendra Singh Dhoni was run out for 50 from 72 deliveries as the Asian giants were skittled for 221 from 49.3 overs.

How can I get tickets?

Not easily and not cheaply. Some tickets are reportedly going for up to £10,000.

Who won the last World Cup?

Australia are the current champions and most successful team in the tournament’s 44 year history, with five wins.

The holders’ chances are boosted by the return of Steve Smith and David Warner after serving one-year bans for ball-tampering.

But they went  into this tournament as the world number one. Outgoing head coach Trevor Bayliss - who leaves his role in September - will be hopeful of carrying momentum through to the Ashes, which begin on Thursday 1 August.

Dream11 Tips and Tricks

Wicketkeeping: It will be a tricky choice to pick between the two solid keepers – Tom Latham and Jos Buttler. But Buttler’s ability to perform in pressure situations and wealth of experience against the top teams give him an advantage over Latham.

Batting: The likes of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Eoin Morgan, Joe Root and Colin Munro are enough to instil fear in the minds of opposition bowlers. These batters can easily walk into any fantasy XI in the world.

Bowling: Rated as genuine wicket-takers in any form of cricket – Jofra Archer, Trent Boult, Mark Wood and Lockie Ferguson are a necessity for any fantasy team in the world. Along with them, Adil Rashid can be picked as the lone spinner in the fantasy team.

All-Rounder: For their big-hitting abilities and a knack for picking up crucial scalps at important stages – Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes can be picked in the fantasy XI for the big-ticket game.
